This Brut Rosé sparkling wine is the perfect summer porch sipper with a great story behind it! 69 signifies the birth- day of the winemaker, Jean-Charles Boisset. In 1969, Boisset’s birthday coincided with the unforgettable first steps of man on the moon. According to Jean-Charles, this wine “is not a dainty pink thing. It’s a FLAMBOYANT, profound mouthful of serious bubbles. The VIBRANT crispness of No. 69 is thirst quenching. Yet the flavors— evocative of Pinot noir—are beautifully SENSUAL.”
It doesn’t get quirkier than sipping summer wine in Napa at Raymond Vineyards. The wine lifestyle experience rises to a whole new level at Raymond, thanks to Jean-Charles’ flamboyant style. Think of it as a Disney experience for adults with wine: one part Lady Gaga, one part James Bond and a touch of Neiman Marcus. Add the JCB #69, and you’ll understand why Raymond was named the Wine Enthusiast’s 2012 American Winery of the Year!
A must visit for all wine enthusiasts: Jean-Charles has the JCB Tasting Room in Healdsburg, California. Try all of his selections. And if you can’t make it out to California this year, put the visit on your bucket list. For now, your local high-end wine store or online sell- er can keep you well supplied.
This Brut Rosé sparkles like a beach on the French Riviera. It is perfect served with spring and summertime fare and many Parisian dishes. Think light salads, seafood such as salmon, shrimp, and seared ahi tuna. JCB #69 also makes a refreshing contrast to BBQ chow!
The Unforgettable Kiss
Jean-Charles Boisset turns his wine lifestyle visions into reality at Raymond Vineyards. The “Red Room”—a members-only private club—joins red velvet walls with pinball, creating a luxurious tasting lounge that features an exclusive taste of JCB’s Red Room wine. Next stop, the bright gold curtains of the JCB Room, where I was immediately handed a glass of JCB #69 and welcomed into nirvana! Lady Gaga played on the movie screen above gold couches, a roaring fireplace, fur rugs and rare Playboy magazines stacked high. I’d have called it a movie set, but I was living it!
That evening, Jean-Charles stated one thing that I still remember, “The more I taste, the less I know.” Boy, was he right. That is the beauty of spring or summer wines, or any wines. Each is unique. Soil, weather, grapes and painstaking work create unending delights in every new bottle.
I love my job!
